Trincomalee Thambi Italian Restaurant

Don't judge the book by its cover! Saw this restaurant with high rating but when arrived there it looks like a small canteen attached to a house. My friend wanted to leave but I decided to stay and order the Mix Seafood Spaghetti and it was delicious The pasta is aldente, the tomato sauce made fresh and perfect, and they are very generous with the seafood. This is actually the best meal I've had during my 5 days stays in Trinco.

We had a wonderful meal here. The owner was so kind and friendly, with no additional charge for water or service. The shrimps were very fresh and the overall flavor of the food was delicious. Would 100% recommend that you visit this quiet, unassuming place for a great experience!

I’ve had the best plate of pasta here. I ordered the mix seafood spaghetti and it was cooked perfectly. The portion is massive, there is a generous amount of prawns, calamari and crab. I could barely finish it! The sauce is saturated with the prawn flavour, it’s so well made and the crab was perfectly tender and so so good! The owners are very lovely people who really look after their guests. You must eat here!

A truly unforgettable experience! It felt like Italy away from Italy. Our pasta carbonara and spaghetti with seafood were heavenly. The chef was incredibly professional, hospitable, friendly and kind. I know I may sound overenthusiastic but, hey, this place is sure worth a try. We will sure come back again.

Amazing food!!! 10/10*. Unique, hidden, quiet place , amazing owner. He is very kind and the food is amazing. Like a Michelin star chef. I ordered the grilled prawns, it was cooked perfectly, easy to clean with salad. My husband had the best carbonara in Sri Lanka Try this place! You won't regret it!!!

Absolutely delicious 10/10! Couldn’t recommend this place more. Best pasta we’ve had during our 6 months travelling. The owner was so welcoming and friendly too. You must try this place out, you will not regret it

On the outside, this restaurant is just a little beachside cafe. Nothing fancy. But our meals were fantastic. My wife had crap pasta and I had the mixed seafood pasta. Both were huge! Pasta was cooked to perfection, with a nice tomato sauce. Crab was on the shell, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Beer and wine were available. One of the best meals we had in Trincomalee.

If I could give this place 100 stars, I would!!! My friend and I are visiting from London and thought we’d give this spot a try – honestly, the Italian food here is unreal. We had bruschetta and garlic bread to start, then I went for the prawn and courgette spaghetti while my vegetarian friend had the penne Sicilian parmigiana. Everything was so fresh and absolutely delicious. But what really makes this restaurant special is the people. The chef is genuinely one of the kindest men I’ve ever met – when he heard we were leaving Trincomalee the next morning, he even gave us complimentary cold bottles of water for our journey. Such a thoughtful touch. My only regret is not having another night here, because I’d 100% be back in a heartbeat!
